Petrofac teamed up with Sharjah English School to host a road safety awareness week in March to educate young people about the importance of staying safe in the community.

Supported by Sharjah Police College, Petrofac’s training business and teaching staff, a series of themed educational events and competitions were held throughout the week covering the importance of road safety, bicycle safety, seatbelt usage and speed awareness.

Subramanian Sarma, managing director of Petrofac’s Engineering & Construction business said: “I am delighted with the success of this week’s programme. It has provided an excellent platform from which the students have been able to learn important practices that they can adopt in respect of their personal safety. I hope that in the future we can build on the success of this initiative with other schools in our community.”

David Throp, principal of Sharjah English School added: “The safety of our students remains an ongoing priority for the school. To be able to raise our game and host a road safety awareness week with the support of a major local employer has been a major step forward for us and we look forward to hosting a similar event next year.”
